I'm in the Ann Arbor area and am beginning the search for a technical co-founder for my start-up.
My concept combines social networking and gaming - think Facebok + Farmville/mafia wars but more interactive and strategic. I'm currently outsourcing the initial work on a basic prototype. The ideal person for this will be young, motivated, eager, trustworthy, skilled and creative among other things. If you feel like you fit the bill, reply back to me ([email protected]) and include resume, list of projects you've created and why you think you're the person for this. * Note - this is not a job. At this point there is no salary. Ultimately this person will be a co-founder with an equity share in what could very well be a multi-million dollar company. |

I've heard many such requests here in Ann Arbor for free help. I think you need to present to the entrepreneurial community personal and business references. You also should present yourself and your ideas at local entrepreneur organizations like Ann Arbor Spark for public review. People are going to want to know about you first. Asking for free help is akin to asking for a personal loan without an collateral or any clear chance for pay-out.
Also the phrase "ideal person for this will be young" is a clear violation of the idea that our society and Ann Arbor particularly does not practice any form of discrimination including age discrimination. Discrimination in vendors, talent, and marketplace is a formula for smaller profits. Asking for free labor and discrimination are not signs of a strong leadership, company, or new business ideas. Step one examine your ideas and then let people know you. |
